Proposal: Christian & Lacy | La Jolla, CA | Analisa Joy Photography | San Diego, CA Photography

I received an email from Christian a few months ago with an inquiry about proposal photography. Christian and Lacy live in Minneapolis and they were planning to visit Lacy’s grandma in La Jolla. Lacy’s grandmother has a beautiful home the overlooks the beach and Christian knew it would be the perfect location to ask Lacy to be his wife. Christian has never visited La Jolla, so I made sure to check it out a few weeks before their arrival. I sent him pictures via email and together we planned exactly where he would get down on one knee. We also fabricated the tale that Chelsea and I were going to pass as photographers from San Diego, Better Gardens magazine. Lacy’s grandmother is an interior decorator, a painter, and her yard is groomed to absolute perfection. Her house is photographed often so it was not uncommon for us to be there. For the first half hour, Chelsea and I just walked around the yard photographing plants and scenery. Lacy was sitting inside in her pajamas and drinking coffee. We knew that if she changed out of her pajamas then our cover was blown. At 11:00am, Christian asked Lacy to join him in the yard to watch the surfers. A few minutes later an airplane flee by with a banner that said, “I love you Lacy! Will you marry me? Christian.” Lacy was so surprised and we were able to stop taking pictures of flowers to capture the moment. My favorite part was that Christian included Lacy’s son into the engagement. He was swimming in the pool and when Christian got down on one knee, her son came over with the ring. For the rest of the day, he kept telling Chelsea and I that his best friend is going to be his dad. How cute is that? It was the perfect day and the perfect proposal. I’m so thankful that we were able to be a part of it. Congrats Christian and Lacy!!

Once Lacy realized that we were there to photograph her special moment, she was ready to get out of her pjs.
