August has to be one of my favorite months of the year. Trent and I get to celebrate our dating anniversary (7 years on the 28th), we also get to celebrate Trent’s birthday (on the 10th), and we always head out to Sedona, Arizona for our annual family vacation. Our Sedona trip is always one of my favorite vacations. I love the 7.5 hour road trip because we always load the car with delicious snacks and we jam out to a variety of mixed CDs. It was a long trip so when we finally arrived we put on our pajamas, played a handful of games, and ended the night with a movie. The next morning we all could not wait to put on our dirty shoes and devote the next three days to exploring the great outdoors. The sites on our hikes were absolutely breakthaking and I just couldn’t help but get sucked in to all the amazing photo opportunities. Sedona experiences spontaneous thunder storms so I usually leave my camera behind and only bring my trusty point and shoot. However, this year I decided to risk the fear of rain clouds and I took my camera out on our afternoon hike. Thankfully, we did not experience any rain and I was able to photograph our journey on one of my favorite trails. Along the way we swam in a freezing creek, Trent ate mysterious berries, the boys caught a crawdad, and I did my best not to fall over on loose rocks and break my camera. It was another great year spent with wonderful people and I can’t wait to do it all over again next August!
