“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” ~Maya Angelou

Yesterday, I celebrated my 25th birthday (a few days early). My birthday isn’t until tomorrow (April 20th), but I had fun celebrating on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon with all my family and friends. For those who know me, I have always been a lover of color. I enjoy arts and crafts, I think it’s fun to get messy, I love planning creative parties, and I am always looking for some great photo opps. To celebrate my quarter of a century birthday, I decided to theme it, “Color Me 25.” I wanted it to be filled with innocent fun and vibrancy. We had a paint party at the park and everyone showed up with white shirts and old pants. We played multiple games that included paint so no one was going to walk away with a clean shirt. Our first activity was an egg toss. We found plastic eggs at Walmart on clearance (thanks Easter sales) for 90% off and we paid eight cents for packs for twelve. We filled the eggs with paint and we tossed them back and forth. We even had an egg land on someones neck and the paint splattered everywhere. That was the best! After the egg toss, we pulled out two games of Twister and we combined them together for an ultimate Twister. The we filled the colored circles with paint. Twister is hard enough, the slippery painted circles offered a new challenge. When one person would slip, they would fall and take a whole bunch of people down with them. That game got us all messy pretty quickly. My husband ordered pizza and while some of us ate, others had paint wars. If anyone saw someone with a clean face or shirt, they would attack. After lunch, we pulled out the powder paint that they use in the color runs. We lined up in the middle of the park and battled it out. Seriously, I got lost in a cloud of colors and walked out looking like I was dipped in a tie dye machine. Luckily, we bought washable paint and everything came out of our hair and skin with warm water. We brought other picnic games such as corn hole, bocci ball, frisbee, and hula hoops. It was so much fun to have paint wars with friends, take pictures, and enjoy the afternoon filled with so much simplicity, joy, and color. I’m so thankful that my families were able to make it out and for all my friends who made this day so special. Here are some of my favorite shots… Enjoy!

Look at these clean blank canvases. That didn’t last long!

Paint Twister. This game was my favorite!

I think my nieces had the most fun at this party.

We filled squirt guns with paint. More Twister obstacles!

Paint attacks were common throughout the afternoon.

Check out those blue teeth!

How pretty are these ladies?

We also had tattoos. I think my nephew wore his the best!

Get ready for some more paint wars!

Trent put paint in my mouth. My teeth turned blue!

Seriously, my nephew is the cutest!

More Twister!

Family photos. I’m always so thankful for these people!

More family photos. I LOVE being a Brookshier. We are blessed!

My best friend. Always so helpful on days like these!

Smiley tatt gang.

Today is Darrin’s birthday (April 19th). He is one of my best friends. I love celebrating our birthdays together each year!

The powder paint was THE BEST (and environmentally friendly).

Chelsea’s whale shower cap (on the left) is my favorite part of this picture.

The aftermath.

We had so much powder paint. We kept throwing it at one another and pretending like we were wizards from Harry Potter… or at least I did.

I truly have the most amazing friends!

Check out these cute couples!

My hubby who makes every day feel like it’s my birthday.
