Maniglia Family: Family Session

Happy belated Fathers Day to all you wonderful fathers out there! I enjoyed getting together with the Maniglia’s for family portraits in the celebration of Fathers Day a few weekends ago in Torrey Pines. I photographed Steve’s wife Carol and her children in Torrey Pines the week prior and he loved how they turned out so we went back! Torrey Pines is on of my favorite places to shoot so I was more than happy to find an excuse to revisit. I love the ocean, flowers, railroad track, and everything in between… It’s a photographers dream land!

Before the session Steve’s son Mike told me he didn’t like taking self portraits… I instantly got excited! I love when people try to warn me that they are “awkward” behind the camera, I sometimes even receive emails prior to a shoot with hesitations and nerves because they’ve never had their photos professionally taken. However, sessions aren’t about posing and having me yell, 1- 2 -3… SMILE! It’s about having fun, laughing, finding the excuse to all get together, and creating priceless images! Once people begin their shoot and realize how low key and easy it is be a model I have them within minutes strutting and flaunting their stuff. It’s a goal I’ve managed to accomplish every session so far and it’s something I truly love achieving! Mike did an awesome job and I’m now throwing his reservations out the window because he looked great in all of his self portraits. Overall, the Maniglia’s were SO wonderful to photograph!! They were friendly, full of energy and they kept me laughing throughout the entire session. My favorite part was how they were always goofing around and poking fun at one another… It made me feel right at home! I’m glad I get to help people feel comfortable in front of the camera because God has created us all in His image and to have the opportunity to show people how beautiful they are is the best feeling in the world.

They look cute, but common… We all know it’s all about the PADRES! ;)
