Time to meet soon-to-be husband and wife Joshua and Maile. I met these two lovebirds for the first time at their engagement session in Torrey Pines. Since I was not able to meet the couple before our session I created a couple questionnaire that would help me get to know them better. It’s always important for me to understand the personalities of my clients so I can truly capture a session the represents them as a couple. I want their images to tell their story and be unique. I love when my couples take time to fill out these questionnaires because I enjoy comparing their answers. Their responses are usually always filled with sweetness and humor and the whole time I’m reading I always feel so lucky to be able to hear about their love story and while also getting to know them on that extra level.
Joshua and Maile met while being coworkers at the Olive Garden. I guess you can say their late night shifts together started as a flicker and turned into a flame. They kept their relationship under wraps, but the more time they spent together the more they realized what a tight knit they were. When I asked Joshua how he knew he wanted to marry Maile he responded, “I’d say our first trip to Oregon… just seeing her in her home town, with her childhood friends and family… I felt like I was getting to know the root of Maile… I had already known Maile as an adult and getting to know where she came from, and falling in love with the Maile I didn’t have a chance to know (her growing up years)… it just solidified how I felt about her… loving her completely.” Seriously, how sweet is that? When I asked Maile the same question she said, “I knew really early on that Joshua was a different kind of guy and that he would make a great husband. It took me a while to adjust to the actual thought of being married… forever… but I can’t imagine it happening with anyone else.” I totally agree because I can’t image these two with anyone else. They are the perfect compliment for one another.
I had so much fun photographing Joshua and Maile and I can’t wait for them to tie the knot this summer. It’s going to be a great day because we both are sharing the same wedding date. June 30th can’t come soon enough :)
Joshua and Maile are adding a lot of personal touches to their wedding.
Their ceremony will tie in the “These are the hands” poem and they will have various pictures of their hands to represent their new life together.
Joshua is a Bears fan so we of course had to include football into our session.
It was the perfect way to warm up.
And of course we had to include Olive Garden outfits and props.
It was their meeting at this restaurant that started it all.
